Two Minute Drill:
Harnessing the Power of Little Victories
What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today’s topic of conversation is little victories. I’m here in Boulder, Colorado, at Chautauqua National Park, doing a hike. I’ll tell you, easy hiking in Colorado is not the same as easy hiking on the East Coast, in the DC area—I can promise you that.
Little Victories, Big Impact
Anyway, it’s been a great hike, a beautiful day here, with incredible views. As I’m hiking up this trail, I had to make a decision: do I take the harder route or the easier one?
What do you guys think I picked?
I picked the easier one, and one of the reasons why is because I didn’t want to risk dying of a heart attack or falling while rock climbing. The harder one involved climbing up a vertical wall, which I am not mentally, possibly even physically, prepared for.
I decided to go the easy route, have a little win, and get back to my hotel in one piece, knowing that I’ll be coming back next time and setting myself up to challenge myself with the more difficult hike the next time around.
Whether it’s in business or life, finding little victories and accomplishing important tasks or goals—like going on a hike, bringing in a new doctor, opening a second practice, or any other endeavor you want to pursue—can be very rewarding. Try achieving little victories first along the way. Build your confidence, build your knowledge base, and then you can take on more difficult tasks.
Guys, little victories.
That’s this week’s Two Minute Drill. You guys have a great week, and I will talk to y’all next Tuesday.
Peace.
