TMD: B**bs and Beyond – Unpacking Unusual Feedback

Two Minute Drill:
B**bs and Beyond Unpacking Unusual Feedback

What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today’s topic of conversation is feedback. I reconnected with a longtime friend of mine last week, went to dinner and we had a great time. We’ll just call him Dr. Jerry. Dr. Jerry and I were hanging out, catching up on stuff and he commented on my videos saying, “I watch your videos, they’re great.”

Seeking Feedback

He was scrolling through his phone. “They’re really good.” And I asked, “What could make them better?” He turned to me, looked at me dead in the eye, and said, “BOOBS!”

“Jerry, really?” I responded.

“Yeah, BOOBS would make it better,” he said. I pressed for a real answer. “What could genuinely make it better?”

He pondered a bit. “I don’t know. They’re good – short, to the point. You tell good stories and have meaningful messages.”

“Alright, but what else can improve them?” I asked.

“I’ll have to think about that,” he replied, “But boobs would be good.” And those of you who know Jerry understand this is typical of him.

So, here’s my take-home point.

First, when you ask for feedback, you never know what you’re going to get. Sometimes the feedback might surprise you or not be as positive as you’d hope, even when you’re seeking critical input. Just be open.

When people only give you positive feedback and you want to know how to improve, dig a little deeper. Ask another question or two to see if they can come up with something that can enhance what you’re doing.

Lastly, if you are being asked to provide feedback, think about the question carefully. The person asking is looking to improve. Use your brain and work a little harder cognitively to offer constructive feedback that can help them grow.

That’s this week’s Two Minute Drill.

It’s all about feedback, and apparently, “boobs”. Have a great week, and I’ll talk to y’all next week.

TMD: Changing Our Reality, One Thought at a Time

Two Minute Drill:
Changing Our Reality, One Thought at a Time

What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today’s topic of conversation is our brains. I’m listening to this book by Joe Dispenza, “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself.” It’s heavy, and I’m probably going to have to listen to it a couple of times to try and absorb all the information.

Beyond Our Thoughts

Some key things stand out for me, and I just thought I would share.

First, I recommend you get this book. CLICK HERE.

I believe there are always ways that we can improve our lives. We all deal with challenges every now and then, and sometimes more often than we would like. I think this book helps to at least define for me why some of these things are occurring.

I’ve often said to people, for some reason, I feel like there’s something going on in my brain that prevents me from breaking through to that next level of where I want to be, of what I want to accomplish, of my level of happiness in my life. I’m starting to understand through this book why this is occurring.

Our reality essentially is driven by our thoughts and our feelings. Many times, consciously or subconsciously, we are just reinforcing those thoughts. We’re not trying to create a reality if that reality is not what we want it to be. But it’s happening anyway because our thoughts are driving that reality.

As I go through this book, I’ll probably share a couple of gems with you.

The most important thing that I want you to understand today is that if you are not in a place in your life that you want to be, if there are things just going wrong, your life is great but things are going wrong, or not as well as you would like, and you’d like to make improvements in those areas, I would highly encourage you to think about how you need to be different as a human. And how you need to be different as a human always starts with how we think and how we feel.

That’s this week’s Two Minute Drill, breaking the habit of being ourselves.

I’ll continue to share as I go along this journey. I hope you guys will get the book, check it out, and go on this journey with me.

Have a great week, and I’ll talk to y’all next week.

TMD: Out with the Old, In with the New

Two Minute Drill:
Out with the Old, In with the New

What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today’s topic of conversation is “Out with the Old.” Next to me, I have this lovely little Christmas tree. This thing has been sitting here for two years. Yes, two years. It is a nice little tree and it served me well, decorating the house.

New Year, New Mindset

I didn’t turn the lights on, but there are lights on it. I’m afraid if I turn the lights on right now, the whole thing will go up in flames because this tree is so dry.

Why did I hold onto this thing for so long?

I did some research on why we hold on to things that clutter our lives, physically, maybe even emotionally.

One reason might be the fear of losing something valuable. That’s not it for me.

Two, maybe it’s memories of the past or something sentimental that we don’t want to forget, and maybe that’s why.

Or three, the concern that we might not have the resources to replace it if we get rid of it now. That’s not it for me either.

So, I’m going to get rid of this tree today. I’m going to chop it up and use it for kindling for my outdoor fire pit, so the tree can still serve some purpose in my life.

What else do I need to let go of, out with the old, and maybe in with something better?

One of the things that I’m going to let go of this year, in 2024, to the best of my ability, is negative self-talk.

I’ve had a lot of that throughout my life, and it’s no longer serving me well. In fact, it probably never served me well, but it’s not serving 2024.

So yeah, out with the old, out with the old negative self-talk. And I want to know from you guys, what are you getting rid of?

What is no longer serving you? What is your “out with the old” that is going to make your life better in 2024? Please, please share, okay?

Alright, that’s this week’s Two Minute Drill, out with the old.

Have a great week, you guys.

TMD: Setting the 2024 Agenda: Strength, Happiness, and Big Dreams

Two Minute Drill:
Setting the 2024 Agenda: Strength, Happiness, and Big Dreams

What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill, and Happy 2024! I use an app called the 5 Minute Journal. I learned about this app many years ago from an event called Mastermind Talks, and I’ve been using it ever since. Recently, the app underwent an update, and it’s even better than ever.

It’s all about letting go in order to grow

Today, when I opened up the app, it asked me a series of questions to help set the course for 2024 for me. Today, I want to share these questions with you.

The first question was all about letting go to grow. What do you need to let go of—a negative thought, a limiting belief? What do you need to let go of in order to grow in 2024?

Number two, it’s all about facing your fear. What is that one, two, or three big fears that you’ve been holding onto that you need to stop holding onto so you can break through, level up, and reach your next level of genius?

Number three, utilizing your strengths. What are your greatest strengths? What are your top three greatest strengths? This is a hard one for me.

For a minute or two, I had to think about my strengths. Sometimes we recognize strengths in others, and we have a hard time recognizing them in ourselves.

This is a great question for you: How do you leverage those strengths to ensure success in 2024?

Number four, it’s all about cultivating happiness. What makes you happy? What are the things that you enjoy doing that bring out joy and happiness in your life?

Number five, it’s all about dreaming big. What are the big dreams that you’ve had? What are the one, two, or three big dreams that you’ve had that you’ve put off, maybe because you have negative thoughts or limiting beliefs, because you have fears, or because maybe you don’t understand your strengths, or you don’t know exactly how to cultivate your maximal level of happiness?

What is that one big dream that you want to go after in 2024 and make sure that nothing stops you?

Again, to repeat, it’s all about letting go in order to grow. It’s about facing your fears, utilizing your strengths, cultivating your happiness, and making sure that you dream big for the best year ever in 2024.

That’s this week’s Two Minute Drill.

You guys, thanks for spending time with me today, and I’m looking forward to talking to you next week.

TMD: From Bloopers to Blessings: My Year in Review

Two Minute Drill: From Bloopers to Blessings: My Year in Review

What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill, the last 2 Minute Drill of the year. Today’s topic of conversation is looking back and looking forward. So, Manal, who does all of our social media, suggested doing an end-of-year video. We’re going to aggregate some pictures and videos, and we’ll put it all together at the end of the video, and then we’ll do our annual bloopers video at the end. I was like, “Okay, great. I love it!”

Cheers to the Past, Toast to the Future

So, I had to go back and just look through pictures and videos, looking for bloopers, which I have a lot of. And, um, I started going through all of my pictures since the beginning of the year, and I realized some things.

One, I take a lot of pictures of my dogs and two, I have this amazingly rich and meaningful life. It’s that way because not only of the work that I do but most importantly, the people that I do it with. All of my friends who I go on this journey with. Uh, and certainly not just my work friends, but I was looking at work friend-related pictures.

But looking through what I do with these people just made me feel really good about the life that I have. A perfect life? Absolutely not! Areas I need to work on? Oh, yeah! But I feel very blessed.

Here’s encouragement to you: go through your phone or wherever your photos are and just look back at the last year. Look at your pictures, look at the laughter you had, the joy you had, and reflect on the life that you’ve created and then think about what it looks like to be even better in 2024 looking forward.

So that’s this week’s Two Minute Drill. You’re going to get some extra stuff this week from us, some other videos. Watch the videos because you might be in them. I love having my friends in my presentations and videos and stuff.

Much love to you guys. Much love to my entire Kaizenovate and KaizoHealth teams, they are amazing. They allow me to do the things that I love to do every single day.

Have a great, healthy, happy, safe holiday season, and have an even better 2024 because I am super excited about what’s to come.

Peace, love, and soul.
